The Laboratorio de Eco-Epidemiología (EGE IEGEBA) has been carrying out the “Pampa del Indio libre de Chagas” project since 2007 in Chaco province, northern Argentina. This municipality includes 1,500 rural homes inhabited by Qom and Creole families. Within the framework of this project, the quasi-elimination of the kissing bug (Triatoma infestan), the vector of Chagas disease, and the interruption of transmission have been chieved.
A current challenge is how to control insecticide- resistant kissing bugs in this and other eighboring municipalities. Your contribution will allow us to sustain the fieldwork in these communities to improve the health of their inhabitants.
